During the tourism week, residents and tourists in HCMC had the opportunity to experience paragliding, fulfilling their dream of flying freely in the sky.
This sport requires smooth coordination among multiple participants.
That's why this sport can be quite costly in terms of investment for professional players.
Since early morning on December 9th, the ground crew members of the CloudSurf flying team have been present at the grass field within The Global City urban area (Thu Duc City) to prepare the equipment for the flight session.
Preparing for takeoff, the pilot meticulously inspects the details on the canopy and the engine to ensure all systems are functioning properly. Subsequently, the pilot adjusts technical parameters, including altitude and flight direction, to guarantee a safe flight path. During takeoff, the engine activates to generate thrust. This process occurs smoothly and powerfully, enabling the canopy to ascend into the air and achieve the necessary speed for takeoff.
After a flight and landing, the ground crew swiftly retrieves the canopy to prepare for the next flight.
Mr. Luong Hoang Ha - President of the Paragliding Sports Association of Ho Chi Minh City - stated:
"Professional players must have the stamina to undergo 12 training sessions. During these sessions, the pilot starts by carrying a 25kg engine and propeller, running with the single-paraglider setup. For tandem pilots, preliminary training involves practicing with a non-paragliding-equipped vehicle. Once the basics are grasped, players fly with an instructor. The operational cost for each flight is 1.2 million VND, making this sport quite expensive. However, in emergency cases like search and rescue, natural disasters, or fires, we are ready and available for deployment."
In the early morning, when the dew hasn't yet dispersed and the air in HCMC is still pleasantly cool, the takeoffs and landings of paragliding always bring a refreshing sensation to tourists.
I have participated in skydiving abroad and some other extreme sports, and I found that the cost is not cheap. In Australia, each jump costs about 300 USD, and an additional 100 USD if you want to record it. Here, with less than 2 million VND and receiving free photos and clips, it is really attractive for tourists. When up in the sky, I feel exhilarated as the pilot glides smoothly with the wind, enjoying the experience with no disturbances from others. It's a truly liberating feeling," shared Ms. Vy Tran, who works in the marketing field and resides in Binh Thanh District.
"Tourists are given detailed instructions on safety factors before takeoff. 'Having to replace the canopy every two years makes this sport quite expensive,' surprised the tourist when shared by the team members,"
The images were captured from a 360-degree camera when this male tourist flew over the Thanh Da Peninsula area, the Cát Lái intersection...
