Joining hands in efforts to reduce emissions, Masterise Homes signed a cooperation agreement with two leading British businesses to apply advanced solutions in The Global City urban area.
At the Climate Summit held within the framework of COP26 in November 2021, the Government of Vietnam pledged to join forces with a global joint effort towards the goal of keeping the Earth's temperature rise at threshold 1, 5 ° C.
In particular, our country is committed to developing and implementing measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with its own resources, in parallel with the cooperation and support of the international community - especially developed countries - both. finance and technology transfer. Vietnam will strive to implement mechanisms under the Paris Agreement to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
2 sustainable solution partners
Together towards realizing Vietnam's commitments on emissions and climate change, Masterise Homes pioneers sustainable trends in the real estate market, through the signing of a strategic partnership with Foster + Partners, Quimera Energy. These are two UK businesses that are leading in sustainable technology and solutions. The signing ceremony was witnessed by MP Graham Stuart, the British Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos.
At the event, Congressman Graham Stuart shared: “I think The Global City is becoming a model and standard for sustainability for other developers in Vietnam and in the region. Masterise Homes is looking to the distant future and listening to the message that Vietnam sets a target of zero emissions by 2050.”
“In that context, property developers like Masterise Homes will lead the market, and companies from the UK can contribute to that trend by transferring technology and expertise, bringing expertise, training to Vietnamese people, gradually realizing the vision of Masterise Homes”, added Mr. Graham Stuart.
The Global City's architectural consulting partner is Foster+Partners, famous for its iconic architectural works and pioneering trends in design and sustainable urban development. Foster + Partners' Sustainability Statement is reflected in our unwavering commitment to the goals of the Paris Agreement on climate change.
Mr. Toby Blunt, senior partner of Foster + Partners, shared: “For The Global City or any other project in the portfolio, we aim to design buildings that are sustainable in the face of environmental impacts. climate change, urban areas grow in tandem with communities, and improve living in a city for everyone.”
“In which, the project's sustainable strategy is built in consultation with the design team. As a result, on the one hand, the architects keep traditional and historical values in modern design, on the other hand, Foster + Partners applies a sustainable methodology to help us better understand the project's impact on the environment. environment, thereby providing tools to help reduce carbon emissions,” added Tony Blunt.
With the advantage of a land fund of up to 117.4 hectares, The Global City spends 11% (nearly 13 hectares) of the overall project area for green space, from small parks to large canal parks with walking and cycling paths. car. The green area and the canal system with a total length of over 2 km become the backbone of the urban master plan, providing a fresh and balanced living space for residents. This is also a highlight to attract tourists to visit the project.

The large green area also supports the absorption of fine dust and emissions, improving the air quality in the urban area. Large trees also provide shade, limiting the impact of heat island in urban areas, for a cooler space. According to research by the University of Washington, large areas of trees can reduce regional temperatures by up to 5 degrees Celsius.
Besides the large green space and water surface, Foster + Partners also offers many other sustainable design solutions.
In which, it is necessary to mention the arrangement and design of buildings to reduce exposure to sunlight and ultraviolet rays (on average 30-40%), but still increase air circulation, thereby limiting demand for air conditioning for each household and the whole urban area. Lighting system is also carefully selected and installed to minimize light pollution, avoid affecting the night life of animals and the sleep of residents.
Sustainable solutions from the UK
Working with Foster + Partners to bring sustainable values according to international standards to The Global City is Quimera Energy Efficiency (QEE) – an energy efficiency consulting partner.
QEE is a high-tech engineering company, specializing in smart building solutions and a branch member of the United Nations Environment Program. This unit will design, install, operate and maintain a centralized system, allocating energy and resources efficiently, with minimal energy consumption to reduce costs and carbon emissions.
The smart energy model is applied to buildings to cut power consumption when not needed, and at the same time take advantage of renewable energy sources to provide hot water for all components in the urban area. The mall uses energy-efficient elevators and places electric vehicle charging points in the basement. Smart energy solutions also help reduce energy consumption when there are no residents, while optimizing energy efficiency during peak hours.
Sustainable solutions from the UK help The Global City use energy efficiently.
The Global City will deploy an environment-friendly transportation system, including bicycles, electric motorbikes and transit trams, using street light poles as charging stations. This content helps to reduce carbon emissions for the internal transport system. Connecting the area through walking, cycling paths and a bridge over the canal creates a miniature city within a 15-minute walk or bike radius (also known as a 15-minute urban model), from that restricts the use of motor vehicles.
Mr. John Chambers, Business Development Manager for Quimera Energy, said in his keynote address: “Quimera's goal is to help our customers achieve their net zero emissions goal. contribute capacity, resources and exclusive solutions to this project. We believe The Global City will become a model for sustainable cities globally.”
The combination of Foster + Partners and QEE is expected to bring international standards of sustainability to The Global City, gradually realizing the vision of becoming the new downtown of HCMC.
Located in An Phu Ward, Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, The Global City urban area started construction in 2021 and is expected to be completed in the next 48 months.
Mr. Youssef Akila, Design Manager of Masterise Homes, shared: “The Global City is the first urban area in Vietnam to cooperate with 2 partners Foster + Partners and QEE. These are the world leaders in sustainability trends and will bring exclusive solutions to create a sustainable urban project. We aim at long-term values for the health of residents, for each real estate product in the urban area as well as for the whole project, and above all for the environment and climate in general.”
